Full HD 1080
nowadays, there’s a lot of hype on high-definition (HD) video, whether it regard LCD TVs, or HDD camcorders. but do you actually know what does HD means?
HD actually refers to a class of video definition which start from 720i, to 1080p, which is the highest class of HD. Those “i” and “p” are there for a very important reason, which is to denote if the standard is interlaced or progressive. adequate to say, progressive is better than interlaced, and this includes being better for your eyes.

1080p, also referred to as Full HD, usually displays a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, implying a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. a DVD only offers half of this and won’t do justice to a TV beyond 30-inches, as standard definition (SD) lacks the quality to display enough details on a larger screen. products that bear the label “HD ready” may not display the full picture resolution possible from an HD source.

to output your HD sources, you will need a high definition LCD or plasma TV, but in order to view those contents, you’ll need a device that inputs high definition videos first, right? because Malaysia has recently adopt Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial (DVB-T) standard for broadcast transmissions (in trial), let’s hope we can soon enjoy HDTV standard through the screen of our TVs. before that happens, your choice of HD input devices are limited to Blue-ray disc (BD) players and HD camcorders.

you can also attain HD contents by buyin them online from popular sites such as amazon.com, or download them via torrent. because Full HD contents and accessories are rather expensive at the moment, i would recommend waitin a little longer before the price of these goodies drop to an affordable range. meanwhile, if you have a computer with widescreen LCD monitor, surround sound speakers, and graphic card with built-in HD decodin capability, you are only lack of a BD drive to the HD experience.
