Lawyer vs Engineer

i came across this post in friendster’s bulletin board and decided to share it. this post does not contain any implicit meanin, and is to be treated only as a joke :)

three lawyers and three engineers are travellin by train to a conference. at the station, the three lawyers each buy their tickets and watch as the three engineers buy only a single ticket.

how are three people going to travel on only one ticket?” asked one of the three lawyers.
“watch and you’ll see,” answers one of the engineers.

they all board the train. the lawyers take their respective seats but all three engineers cram into a restroom and close the door behind them. shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. he knocks on the restroom door and says, “ticket, please.”

the door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on.

the lawyers saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea. so after the conference, the lawyers decide to copy the engineers on the return trip and save some money. when they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. to their astonishment, the engineers don’t buy a ticket at all.

how are you going to travel without a ticket?” asks one perplexed lawyer.
“watch and you’ll see,” says one of the engineers.

when they board the train the three lawyers cram into a restroom and the three engineers cram into another one nearby. the train departs.

shortly afterward, one of the engineers leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the lawyers are hiding. he knocks on the door and says, “ticket, please.”

random LCCT shot

last week (20th november to be exact), i got a chance to set foot on kuching soil. the flight to kuching international airport from lcct took approximately about 1 hour 40 minutes, and when we got there, it was already dark outside.

our first stop that night was a hawker centre (which i can’t remember the name), and i managed to try out a notable local dish, tomato sauce mee. it is basically crispy noodles served with tomato sauce, vegetables, and meat (click here to view external image). maybe because i’m not a fan of tomato, i was feelin a little bellyful after eatin couple of mouths.

for supper, josey brought me to try out their famous sio bee (siew mai) at the open air market, which has quite a unique sauce to dip in with.

unfamiliar view

you can't see this here in peninsular

the next mornin, i had a plate of kuching‘s famous kolo mee, and was then shown around kuching city, where i got to “savage” kueh chap, a bowl of flat rice noodles served with pig entrails, tofu, and chicken feet. somethin different, but i’ll still go for bak kut teh for intestines as that’ll be more tasty =)

dunno where this is :P

dunno where this is, i think it's chinatown :P

in kuching, you’ll get to see many different kinds of cats, and i mean sculptures, not real life cats. it’s kinda hard takin photos of them while in a movin vehicle, and i only managed to snap one. we should have enormous kong piangs along sitiawan roads as well for tourist attraction.

then, josey took me to see this strange house in some housing area which i’m not familiar (like la i familiar with other part of kuching). until today, i still don’t understand why would the owner wanna renovate his house to look like a prison. weird…

after that, i tried belacan bee hoon with cuttlefish, which taste horrible. somethin else happened while we were eatin. you know, in sitiawan, we have those majlis perbandaran manjung people goin around to place a saman ticket your car if you don’t display a parkin coupon on your dashboard? it is somewhat similiar in kuching, and there’s this guy who looked at josey’s dashboard, and walked away. know why?

we then walked along kuching main bazaar, which has all kinds of attractive arts & crafts store.

opposite the main bazaar is kuching waterfront, situated along sarawak river.

the rest of day 2 was spent restin in josey’s house. next day we went to kenyalang for some awesome sarawak laksa (more accurately called curry laksa).

in the evenin, i took a stroll at taman sahabat. this unique and picturesque park is the product of a close relationship between kuching and kunming of china.

i didn't know laksamana cheng ho came to kuching

i noticed a lot of people jog there as well.

wow, you actually read till here! not bad, let me carry on. followin day came pretty soon, and i had green noodles for lunch. the noodles has a very nice texture, except for the lack of taste in it’s sauce. after that, without knowin it, i was already in damai beach resort, santubong.

it was so cozy that i fell asleep on the sunbathing chair

the sandy beach looks clean, and i think it is private for guests of the resort only, but knowin the ‘beh paisei‘ me, i just walked past the reception desk towards the beach.

we then proceed to damai puri resort located not too far away. this resort seems much bigger than the previous one.

we had dinner at taman kereta (i think that place got its name from its multi-storey carpark), where i got to try out the unusual fried oyster, where the osyters were deep fried to a shape of a big cracker. to be honest, i still prefer the foochows’ fried osyter omelette over penang’s and this.

the next day, before i left back for kl, i savoured another helpin of kolo mee.
