Why Play Alone?
i was referring to playing mahjong online. if you carry out a google search on the term “mahjong”, you’ll notice that most of the results return mahjong solitaire online game, which is totally not what i have in mind.
worry no more.
me and my housemates came across viwawa, a leading massively multiplayer online game and social network service site with a focus on casual games. just hit the signup button and you’re good to go.

example of games offered by viwawa
some of the familiar casual games offered are dai di, memory, chess, and mahjong. this blog post will only focus on mahjong. click on the “play now!” button for wahjong under games tab.

the rules are either based on singapore or hong kong mahjong, and is determined by the owner of the game match. so far, i’ve only played classic game mode with 0 minimum hand. the time limit, too, is decided by the owner. if a player agrees to the configuration set by the owner, he/she can show it by clicking on the ready button. otherwise, leaving the match before it begin is advisable. take note that all players must agree in order for a match to start.

please know the terms (eg. chi, pong, hu), rules and gameplay before you get your hands dirty
i would recommend joining matches with a time limit of at least 10 seconds to avoid “timeout” due to connection delay. the following are the insights of the game:

waiting for a 6 bamboo or red "zhong"

winning with multiplier gives you additional gold and experience
