well since I’ve got a vested interest in alcohol, I’m gonna take the initiative to write up something about it. For me, alcohol is one of the few good things about air travel…coz I don’t smoke, and I ain’t no big perfume user (my 5 year old Adidas perfume is only half used! dont get me wrong…I havn’t been using it so u gurls can rest assured…)
Okay, back to scotch. For newbies there are different whiskies out there. There are American, Irish and Scotch. Scotch = from Scotland la…. =P…and for Scotch whisky, it can be subdivided into 2 broad categories: single malt and blended.
Most of us will be very familiar with blended ‘coz the more popular ones like Johnnie Walker and Chivas Regal are blended ones.
Lets talk about Laphroaig. It is a distillery from the Islay part of Scotland (as scotch whiskies can be divided according to their location of origin)

I know I ain’t know expert in this field (heck I’m not using the correct glass ffs!) but anyway…Laphroaig is very different from the other whiskies I’ve had before. The first thing that you’ll notice is its peaty-ness, thanks to the peat-fire roasting process. (For more info, please visit www.laphroaig.com). Ain’t gonna pretend that I can smell vanilla, toffee, citrus or anything like those online whisky reviewers would, I’m just gonna give my take on it.
nose: ‘peaty’, not much ‘alcohol’ smell to it
palate: not so stingy, not dry, pretty smooth and there is a subtle sweetness to it
finish: smokey oak with earthiness

amber liquid of joy...now who's with me on this?
so far, I havn’t manage to mix it with anything else other than water and some soda. Definitely better when mixed with soda and ice; kinda waters down the spirit for easier drinking but still retains its strong flavour.
well that’s all for now…depending on how you guys like it, I might gonna review another single malt, The Macallan Elegancia 12 yrs old. So till then, keep on drinking guys!
