Melbourne: Most Livable City?! I don’t think so…

August 2nd, 2008 | Posted by P.I.T.H.S.O.H | 4 LoLz

I bet most of you who have been reading the news lately would have known about  the brutal bashing of a Malaysian student right in the heart of Melbourne city. It kinda makes me wonder about how violence is so rampant nowdays, even in a city which have been voted as the most livable city in the world on several occasions.

i tried to put the video from the australian news website but i cant so i would just put the link here.

link

btw….if you guys are wondering,…why havnt they caught the assailants yet. Coz they dun hav biometric ID like our myKAD over here….but for malaysia….even with biometric IDs the police oso cant do anything….u know la….they would be off sipping teh tariks instead of working on their cases. Oh wait…maybe they prefer to work on sodomy cases.

PS….i don’t mean to offend techno / electronic music lovers out there…but how can one ‘rave’ to this kinda music??

Album Review: Even If It Kills Me by Motion City Soundtrack

May 19th, 2008 | Posted by P.I.T.H.S.O.H | No LoLz

Hey guys, i think I’m going to break the duck by posting this blogpost. As the title suggests, it’s my take on the album. For starters, we need to get to know our fellow artist first, Motion City Soundtrack. It is an indie alternative rock band, founded circa 1997 and they’ve been rocking ever since. With their melodic tunes, some may say that they overlap on the pop-punk-rock genre.

Nevertheless these 5 lads from Minnesota are awesome, and their latest album i think is their best so far.(Okok, not fresh, hot-from-the-oven news la….it was released back in 2007 but they just released another single, that’s why im posting =P). It’s only their 3rd album so far and the long gaps between albums sorta suggest that much work has been put into the process of creating it.

the guys…from left: Justin Peirre (rhythm guitar - fender telecaster), Jesse Johnson (keyboards/synthesizer), Tony Thaxton (drums), Matthew Taylor (bass guitar - fender jazz / precision bass) and Joshua Cain (lead guitar - Gibson SG).

Album Cover

This album is pretty awesome and the hype was already building even before its launch, as the AP (alternative press, the leading magazine for genres like alternative rock, pop punk & etc.) has labelled it as the most anticipated album of 2007.

The album has 13 tracks (excluding bonus tracks) and my picks would be:

  • track 2: This Is For Real (their 2nd single for the album)
  • track 8: Broken Heart (their 1st single - u guys should also check out the music video. Its really cute. (well not in a queer way ah…..i’m 100% straight!!)
  • track 10: Where I Belong
  • track 13: Even If It Kills Me (well someone has even customized it, made playable on Guitar Hero)

Other tracks are good as well. Unlike in most typical albums from major labels such as EMI, Sony & etc., there will always be one or a couple of songs from the album that you would never listen to and you would always press the ’skip’ button when u know the song is coming up next on your stereo. Well this album hasn’t got any of that rubbish. It gives you an impression that it wasn’t ‘rushed’ and the whole album sorta have this really unique ‘feel’ to it. The kind of ‘feel’ that you would only get from MCST.

Most importantly, they stayed true to their ‘kind’ of music (unlike Fall Out Boy whose sound has changed so much since their last album, From Under the Cork Tree). I like the vibes that the music sends out and also the eloquence of the lyrics that sorta blends into the music so well, that you would feel as if the feeling of the writer, Justin, is perpetuated on you. So, overall I would rate this album at 9/10 (I was thinking of 9.5 but I think I’m gonna reserve that for their next album ;-)).
